How do you categorize items?
Categorize by Similarity - Group items that are the same type or similar.
For example in a pantry we can group snacks, oils, cans, nuts, carbs, etc.
Categorize by Function - This is a way of grouping items that are different but would typically need at the same time.
What are examples of categorize?
You are sorting things by how they are alike. Scientists categorize animals and plants by their properties.
Doctors categorize illnesses by whether they are caused by viruses or bacteria. In movies, high school students are often categorized as jocks, popular kids, troublemakers, and geeks. Why are categories important in business? You can better promote connected products when you group similar products into categories. This helps customers find multiple products that complement each other. Potentially increasing sales for multiple products.
General product attributes to include:
- Brand
- Category
- Subcategories
- Supplier information
- Materials & sources
- Warranty
- Technical specifications
- Design, color, weight, etc.
